Hello bant. I don't get alcohol. I never drink, never found it tasty. Beer, wine - taste is awful. How can one enjoy it unironically? Month ago I decided to try it for real. I bought a bottle of wine (20% alc, rather strong). Drank it all. Taste was disgusting, I had to breath through the mouth so I couldn't feel it. All the effect I felt was slight vertigo and also sleepness. No changes in mood, nothing. So what? I often read in books and hearing from the others that people get more relaxed and amused after glass or two of wine. An old cop in every movie carries a flask and taking a litle sip of whiskey now and then. Is it supposed to relax him? Even my dad sayes - well, it's real deal - you gather guys, you drink and stress goes away.
I ask you - Is alcohol a meme? For many centuries we know how drank people are supposed to act. When drinking we expect the same effect on us. So alcohol is, well, social stuff. It's some kind of wierd disguise. When you are hanging out with people you can drink a little bit and act as you pleased. Next day you can excuse yourself easily by saying - Hey I was drunk! Funny, but rather stupid rules.
