The Church has changed it laws.
Matthew 16:18 gives the church to alter its own laws.
So Slavery (depending on how you define it) is still not innately immoral or moral.
But now slavery is a violation of church doctrine which IS immoral.

The death penalty is not by its nature immoral, but the church has deemed it immoral as there are not sufficient resources and institutions that imprisonment is far more feasible then in the middle ages.
