It pretty much spawned the beginning of the degradation of classical art, however it at least retained (and imo enhanced) the beauty of the female form through emphasis on the silhouette using thick line work inspired by japanese style wood block prints. I really love the liberal use of floral patterns.
To me its somewhat reminiscent of stained glass depictions, albeit it was generally done for posters via lithography. Too many curves for stained glass unfortunately
