At least the Orthodox church makes it a point to leave most of these more retarded matters (like how many angels can stand on a pin head, was the world literally created in 7 days, is the Earth only a few thousand years old) up to personal interpretation so long as it doesn't compromise fundamental church doctrine while at the same time giving you well reasoned opinions on what the answers to some questions could be.
