Serious projects are written in Ada, Common Lisp, Haskell etc, or C if it's system-level. C++ is an atrocity, and there's almost never any good reason to use it. The reason you think you need "education" to use it is that it's such a bloated mess that even its creator admits that he doesn't know it.
