In the extended scenes it's evident she was there because she wants to be with Emilio.>Nelson's character is a POS and was there because he wanted Ringwald's character.>Emilio and Hall's characters are most likely not wealthy, and instead are middle class. the High School they are attendeding is probably for wealthy students and are there on an academic scholarship. The Janitor character has a line taken out of the final cut about how much he makes. Anthony Michael Hall's character supposedly did get a female counselor that was cut out of the movie. Actress is Karen Leigh Hopkins.
