Whether or not someone should have a say in who lives and who dies is also just a matter of opinion since at the end of the day the only thing that decides is whether or not they're capable of killing, you know?
You could adopt a cow as a pet and you could eat a dog. There are plenty of people who do either of those.
I don't think human beings are high and mighty and deserve to choose what animals die anymore than any other animal who kills for food.
Deciding not to eat animals is no different from deciding to eat animals.
I'm not sure what tolerance has to do with any of it though.
