The capital of the realm was moved to Paris for a while, but Carl the Great moved it to Aachen and when he became emperor that was the end of the Frankish Empire. With it, the title became obsolete, because Carl the Great took on the honour of being Caesar of Rome a title that at that time was considered having universal jurisdiction over all Christian nations. The Kingdom of France was just a title, the realm was a wholly different realm than that of Chlodwig's time. It was only brought back to life again due to the the western part of the Empire breaking away from the rest of the Empire.
