At some point you go from "Aha! Religion is a psyop meant to control the masses!" to "The masses are a cluster of hedonistic lazy psychopaths who need to be controlled and pacified". Atheists have done nothing but replace their fear of hell with the fear of the government. A state religion would be better than what we have now.
