Humans as we know them only go back 250,000 years, but there were many pre-human hominids that created great works. They died out due to slower birth rates. Some were more intelligent than humans. Humans just breed like rabbits so we are survivors in thst sense. The story of prometheus is about pre-human hominid race gifting mankind technology to survive. All the races are terrestrial in origin though.
