see, the Gate is something that can be used in both fantasy aswell as in science fiction since in realish world it would represnt the pouring of matter/antimatter via small gate-like pathways to take any shape or form, instead of raining you get sunbeam diamond deluge (using antimatter to destroy the rain causes light formation in annihilation, the gate also splits the gamma ray light into visible light), but in fantasy you can branch it far and wide with magic, what happens when you place your hand through the gate, what happens when your gullet becomes a gate, for vampires you can say their soul (which allows sentient animate objects to pass through time) gets replaced with a gate and build it from there
I'm just babnling nonsense but in my head I've been trying to build these two alternative worlds with same concept (with gate being somewhat etherial and lovecraft-esque but I'm trying to make it a new and renown concept)
