they ruin tomatoes in north america. One of these will eat a whole tomato plant in a day. Pesticides don't work on them. The only way to deal with them effectively is to either inspect and pick them off manually twice a day, or grow in a contained greenhouse which is how nearly all commercial tomatoes are grown here
