Thoth was from Byblos in Phoenicia, and was known to the Phoenicians as Taautus; he was also called Hermes by the Greeks, Enoch by the Hebrews, Idris by the Arabs, and so on. He invented the first system of written language as a means to record his experience with the Primordial Tradition, now known as alchemy (see: Corpus Hermeticum). Read the Praeparatio Evangelica containing Sanchuniathon’s history c.~1400BC, recorded from pillars in the temples at Byblos dating hundreds or even thousands of years earlier. Taautus was the secretary for Elus (Kronos, Saturn) the first king of the first city-state (Byblos). Elus granted Taautus kingship over Egypt as a reward for his help in defeating Elus’ wicked father Autochthon (Uranus).
