>>13388591Take that ham bone out of the freezer (you do save all your hams bones, don’t you, anon?) push it down in the bottom of a nice heavy pot. Add enough water to cover by two fingers. Cover, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer. Cook for a couple hours or until the meat is tender. Remove from the pot to cool. Strain the broth and return to the pot along with two cups lentils, the meat you’ve picked off the ham bone, diced onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms, bell pepper, minced garlic, bay leaves, thyme leave, a little chopped rosemary, splash of white wine, a tablespoon of tomato paste, a little smoked paprika, cumin salt and pepper to taste. Cover and slowly bring up over medium heat, then simmer until the lentils are tender.
