>>12991876The only thing that mattered on the lander was heat shielding and weight. It had a dry weight of a dodge ram pickup truck and almost nothing inside besides the absolute basic necessities to support life for 24 hours.
You don't need aerodynamics or any kind of external plastic or metal panels to make it "look cool" like something from star wars. You need something akin to a dune buggy with a lightweight rigid structure, a little capsule inside it for people, and then some metal foil like a tent for sunshade. It is far,far easier to build a moon lander than a deep sea pressure vessel.
