But he did hold the kingdom together against the perhaps greatest catastrophe the region had ever seen, the bronze age collapse and invasion of the sea peoples wiped out entire civilisations but Ramesses was able to fight them off. Egypt from that time on was a shadow of its former self but he did well considering the circumstances.
Plus he had a chad jaw.
