The periscope and lighthouse have limits in both the flat Earth scenario and round Earth scenario. Meaningless.
High gear gyroscopes do actually begin to tilt if left alone. Those are the ones airplanes use. Like the example with the tilt of constellations and such before, the tilt is rather slow due to the scale of the earth in relation to its spin speed.
