It’s very common and doesn’t reflect on me at all. Had I been awarded custody I would be working for her instead of my wife.

You have to be marketable and whether you like it or not you have to be able to sell yourself above all else.
If you want a leg up go get an A+, Net+ and a CCNA. Those will make people take you seriously so you don’t have to sell yourself as hard.
Lastly don’t be afraid to flex what you know. If they ask then tell them.
In the event you have no experience and no certs then your first step is getting an A+ and starting at help desk.
