I just beat an Emerald ROMhack (elegant emerald) and this was my team. I didn't mean to overlevel Gyarados so much but I kept having to refight the first 3 elite 4 members and then getting stuffed at Drake.
>Sidney (Dark)
Either sweep with dragon dance Gyarados or bulk up Blaziken pretty easy
>Phoebe (Ghost)
First dusclops always starts out with reflect, except when I used Alakazam then it would use shadow punch. So I went back to dragon dance + waterfall Gyarados (ROMhack adds the physical/special split btw)
>Glacia (Ice)
Sweep with Blaziken using bulk up, and having Alakazam set up reflect. Opening Sealeo doesn't have any water moves apparantly, always used body slam or hail.
>Drake (Dragon)
The issue with Drake was that he has a pretty strong Dragonite with thunderpunch as his lead. Eventually I just let Alakazam set up reflect, then Walrein could survive a couple hits and get off ice beams. Then dragon dance could clean up the rest. I had trouble with this one, but it seems pretty simple in retrospect.
>Wallace (Water)
Tried to use Alakazam and Magneton. Didn't work. Dragon Dance sweep again, kinda boring.
Magneton and Flygon were completely useless, even against Wallace Magneton got OHKO'd by Wailmer's water spout. It was first run so I didn't know any better, I should have put up a light screen with Kadabra first but I went with reflect and Kadabra also got OHKO'd before I could light screen.
I use Gyarados too much in general because you can always get it pretty early and I just love him. I also realized I could have traded out Kadabra for Starmie and it would have been much more useful with the bulk but I didn't feel like changing my team after already getting to the elite 4. I think I'll try swapping out Gyarados and try to beat them again without him.
