the big problem is that vowels can stand alone but consonants need to be connected to a vowel. it just depends on the specific combination whether a consonant can go on the end or not, so it can lead to a lot of difficulties when trying to adapt loanwords. i think "hot" for example you can say with no problem in korean because a t after an o is perfectly fine, but velvet becomes velveteu because a t can't be put after a t, so they need to add a vowel at the end to put the t with.
i also forgot that there are a lot of cases where korean uses 1 letter for more than 1 english letter. f/p and l/r are one letter each since the sound koreans make is somewhere between the english equivalents while b/p, d/t, and g/k are all a tossup which they'll sound like based on where they are in the word.
bonus points for the fact that since they don't have a sound for v they approximate it with the b/p letter but not a consistent sound
