>>12284541well it depends what kind of sauce you get at chinese restaurants i guess. oyster + seoy + sugar is the base for pretty much any asian sauce with a spice or two dropped on top of it. sesame oil is kind of weird i think but this guy just throws that shit in everything.
that being said the one or two spices you add makes this stuff shockingly versatile. there are whole ass restaurants here where the menu is just a list of sauces and proteins to pick from.
i usually don't do anything with stock for asian foods but i'm sure that has more to do with what i eat than the dishes that are out there.
if you like shrimp i'd also recommend trying various sauces on that, it usually works really well.
omo nice, we had some fancy rice wine at the theater but i never got a chance to try any.
