You can prove it yourself, close your browser (I know it's hard) and reopen it with everything except youtube. Then open youtube in a seperate window and no other instances of it (just one tab in it's own window). Faf about on youtube all day then look at your system resources. You will notice the instance youtube is running in because it's taking up a shitload of memory, and taxing your CPU and hard drive too (because your computer is compensating using your system page file).
Close the window and that will stop
OR
End the offending instance and youtube will crash.
