Instead, Ai was spending most of her time tangling with the undead, whose fresh Saiyan blood made itself apparent as she dodged many aerial maneuvers with ease. Just like Karna...in turn, that made Shogun's normal, significantly less alien blood boil. And worse still, the Jersey Devil indulged in truly devilish behavior, interrupting or playing spoiler whenever she was starting to gain some control.
In the end, she had to give much credit to Masala and Cassie, who fortunately put their differences aside to ensure they could pick up the victory, and ended up proving themselves as solid teammates.
Of course, even with the end of the battle, the war was not over. While an immensely frustrated Dr. Sorass and Kryptine would vanish into the darkness, the Jersey Devil and Raquel would work in tandem to capitalize on the chaos: La Jefa jamming a steel bat as hard as she could into Ai's chest, making the shrine maiden scream.
As she looked up, still winded, she saw a bat descending towards her. Another death in the WWA? Was this really how her journey ended? She weakly lifted up an arm in an attempt to protect herself, but she knew it was only for one hit. Alas, she'd either have to act quickly--
(INSERT DIVE SOUND EFFECT HERE)
--or receive a miracle. Once more, her faith was rewarded. Physically, she could do little except hoist herself up, and reach for a kendo stick in case she needed to do further battle. Although, seeing Masala and Cassie Maverick right alongside her...it would seem she was safe.
But safe was not good enough.
As Raquel retreated to the WWA stage, Shogun would drag herself after her. Masala and Cassie followed in tandem, and as Shogun made her way up the ramp...she fell onto a knee.
She looked up at La Jefa with disgust.
