I’ve been noticing a disturbing trend among Zoomer men who have unrealistic expectations when it comes to women and relationships. Many of them grew up watching TV shows, movies, and especially anime that depicted idealized women with superpowers or other extraordinary traits falling in love with a mediocre guy simply because he was “nice.”
These media portrayals have set a dangerous precedent, making these young men believe they deserve a “10/10” woman despite lacking any remarkable qualities themselves. When reality hits and they can’t find their perfect fantasy partner, they become disillusioned and start dropping out of society altogether. They think life isn’t worth living if it isn’t perfect, leading to a rise in nihilism and a sense of hopelessness among this generation.
What are the long-term societal implications of this mindset? How will it affect future generations, and what can be done to address this growing issue? Is there a way to reset these unrealistic expectations and bring these young men back to a more grounded and fulfilling view of life and relationships?
