Movies, writing, music has gotten way worse because creatives are being driven to poverty. Why do you think western movies have gotten worse despite better technology? Despite huge budgets? Because they barely pay writers, they barely pay sfx guys. That's just the reality. A musician is expected to play for free and as for little as possible and to accept that because it's their "passion".
Also I wouldn't feel comfortable making a piece of music that I have put my emotions to it. That I have dedicated years of struggle for. Just for random gooners to completely copy it and replace the lyrics with heinous disgusting things. Because some people do spend years on and off on a song similar to how leonardo da vinci spent years on and off on mona lisa. as a listener you wouldn't know you just hear it and you decide to discard it or not within 10 seconds or less.
I think it really is dark times for music, and art in general should have never been turned into a profit machine.
