>>20864482Jesus is not a human sacrifice. This is a catholic and Judaic misconception. Jesus is God coming down as a human, the Theanthropos, to redeem US. He showed us the perfect way to live in accordance with love, considering humans are the image of god.
Jesus underwent the most heinous evil thing human beings had devised, crucifixion, and conquered death itself by doing so. The best we can throw at God to prove our “power” is to put a man to death, based on our view of what’s right. God destroys death which human beings engendered in the first place, to prove WE HAVE NO POWER OVER HIM. And in his perfect love and mercy, he offers all of us to share in this gift, as long as we admit that we aren’t the arbiters of right, and we have no business condemning anyone else. Forgive and forget because you aren’t shit.
God didn’t “send an innocent guy to die for us”. He BECAME man to redeem us that we may be more like him, and he CHOSE to suffer the cross, the most feared instrument of human evil, to prove that Satan is the prince of this fallen world and nothing else.
The world is dead but I am alive in Christ.
