>>13234047I want to add 320.6 yards to the mile, how many miles is that?
In metric adding any amount of meters to kilometers is pretty instant, no back and forth conversions required beyond just moving a decimal point
Because adding like 542.4 m to 1 kilometer = 1.542.4 km
If I convert the aforementioned imperial numbers (320.6 yards and 1 mile) to metric
1 mile = 1.609344 km
320.6 yards = 293.1566 m
Then it's just a matter of addition and then I can give the answer in millimeters, centimeters, meters if you like
So: 1.609344 km + 293.1566 m = 1.9025006 km
Or maybe I'll just convert it to meters: 1609.344 m + 293.1566 m = 1902.5006 m
Maybe I'll do by converting it all to kilometers: 1.609344 km + 0.2931566 km = 1.9025006 km
I can then just convert to any metric unit.
I can even break it down like so, without even thinking:
1 km 902 m 50 cm 0.6 mm
Notice that the numbers don't change, that's the beauty of it - it's efficient, and less prone to errors.
