I notice this is a tactic employed by users here. Basically, insult your opposition while providing no counterargument. While it sounds like it would be effective in theory, to demoralize the opponent, I don't think it washes, so should be abandoned. Reason being, that those who would so easily be dissuaded of their argument because their fragile ego is crushed, would just as likely lose the argument; so, better to actually argue the point than just attack and leave. This also does not account for a third party witnessing this attack, who are more likely to side with the attacked (assuming they don't already have a firm position) because the adhom ninja provided no counterargument and just insulted their opposition. There's a 4th dimension possibility, that the attacker does not in fact disagree, but agrees and so would paint a picture that the position can not be argued against. That those in opposition to the argument can only think to shoot the messenger, so the message must be valid. All this aside, the most likely scenario is the adhom ninja is really just a mess and can't think of how to form an argument, so opts to insult those they disagree with or they feel upset by. That's pretty sad, isn't it?
