Nikki looks down at Lonergan, before gazing back at Spirit. “And then there’s the matter of the real business of this nightclub. See, Cassie has her people sell Obsidian Rush in this place. I can spot six dealers within my view right now.” Nikki points them out. “I want to increase the sales figures while Cassie is gone, so then she doesn’t kick us out when she gets back, maybe even lets us keep control of one of the floors of this place. I think that'd be pretty cool. We could call it The Angel Lounge or something. So anyway, I noticed Cassie only sells Rush in powder form, and that gave me an idea.”
She leans in close to Spirit. “What if I got her people to make and sell it in pill form too? I mean, not everyone that’s out clubbing wants to be snorting crap up their nose right? But pills? They’re so much… sexier. Less messy. More dignified. Cassie wouldn’t get it, she’s such a boomer. But I bet making Obsidian Rush available in pill form would make even more people use it. And that means more money.”
Nikki grins and pours herself another drink, this time mixing sprite and vodka. “But that’s business. Right now I…” She hesitates. “Look, Jen, not too long ago I never thought we’d be able to hang out like this again. I thought you’d be a ghost forever.”
Nikki smiles and engulfs Spirit in a tight hug. “But now thanks to that lantern, I can hug my bestie again, we can drink together, it’s like the way things used to be.” Nikki releases the hug, and leans her head against Spirit’s shoulder. “So I guess more than anything else, now that we sort of own this place I just want to have fun.”
