“Nikki?” Coco laughs. “I’m not her. I’m Coco.” She accelerates through a red light. “You don’t know me, but I know you, I see everything Nikki sees. And I’m not weird! I just don’t get to talk to ANYONE except HER!” Coco groans and stomps on the accelerator. “I’m stuck in her head nearly all the time, you know? She’s always had her own friends like Priscilla, and Spirit, and now you. Her own life. But what is my life? I’ve seen the rain a thousand times through her eyes, but I’ve never even felt it. I’ve seen her kiss so many other people, but I never knew what kissing felt like until you did it to try to wake us up.”
“But no more. Henceforth, I shall have a life of my own.” The lambo speeds through the Divine Mansion’s gates and screeches to a halt in front of the main entrance. “So farewell, K-Chan. It was nice to meet you. But you’re one of Nikki’s friends, not mine.”
Coco rushes into the Divine Mansion, ignoring the concerned looks from the servants when they notice the condition the lambo is in. Or perhaps they were just surprised to see her. Nikki rarely slept in the mansion since moving into her own place earlier in the year. And while Coco felt none of the extreme loyalty to Priscilla Divine that so defined Nikki’s time in Spaghetti Town, she did miss this place. Especially at night.
But even her presence in the mansion was a result of a connection Nikki had made. This was a part of Nikki’s life. Not her own. So Coco heads up to Nikki’s room and reaches under the bed, withdrawing a box where she stored her meagre belongings during her rare opportunities to control the body she and Nikki share.
