The cruel truth is that infant mortality is way down, from the 60s to now, it got dropped by another third alone, meaning a lot more kids that wouldn't have made it before are now competing for women. Sure, it takes a hard look in the mirror to realize that one isn't cut from the same cloth as the best of them, but you'd think our "science is our religion" culture wouldn't cling to the idea that there's a girl for everyone out there as hard as they do. The hyperselectivity of Tinder et al. is just a part of the issue, but it blows my mind how egos are so fragile that no one dares to confront the rest.
