>>18533037As Nikki tries to take a step toward the edge of the cliff, the voice in her mind goes ballistic, screaming and begging for her to stop. Nikki doesn't know exactly what the second consciousness within her is, only that no matter how demanding or intimidating it's been at the times it has made its presence felt, she has always been the one in control.
But yet now she finds herself with an excruciating pain in her head and struggling to move as the entity within her does everything it can to hold her back and preserve her life and its own.
Nikki sinks to her knees as the internal struggle escalates. "Please, just let me do it," she begs. But the consciousness within her refuses, determined not to allow harm to come to its host.
A tear trickles down Nikki's cheek. "If we died, maybe we'd see Jen again on the other side." Now in an all fours position, she tries to crawl forward. "And maybe we'd get to meet mum."
As she says this and the thought permeates the secondary consciousness holding her back, its grip on her momentarily fades. Nikki senses the opportunity, and immediately sprints toward the edge of the cliff and jumps.
