It still envokes that feeling of a time of music that was slowly fading out too quickly. The synth and wave genres died out too quickly.
The 80's retro sound didn't really get enough time to shine and make a lasting impact.
Though the vaporwave movement might just be the modern resurgence that the genre's needed.
