Don't forget the brassicas,(Radishes-beets-Turnips,nitrogen fixing is essential;) I think potatoes are a flummox for a lot of normies: a) when green they are TOXIC with phytotoxins, and b) when they sprout, most people throw them away when they could EASILY cut them up, stick'em in the dirt and keep covering the shoots as they grow(leaving at least 4"(10cm) exposed---You'll have more potatoes than you think in a month.
Did this the last 3 years running and have only had to buy potatoes in the early spring.
