Though the science behind it isn't that depthful, they still put enough knowledge forward to give the character's personalities and combat effectiveness some realism be incorporating the aspects of their real life gems into their characters. That, combined with the use of the greatest possible medium to show it all and it's a crime you haven't been exposed to this beforehand.
