I was about 300 lb and am currently 233 and still dropping around 2ish lb a week (was a little faster at the start.)
Basically, you need to figure out how many calories you burn a day (your TDEE), and then eat less then that. There are online calculators that can estimate it for you. Eating 500 cal under your TDEE every day = 1 lb lost a week. Weigh yourself at the same time every day (your weight fluctuates throughout the day) and track your progress. If you aren't losing weight, you either are underestimating how much you are eating, or need to adjust your TDEE. Keep doing that and you will steadily lose weight.
As far as what to eat, eat shit that will keep you feeling full while not eating to many calories. This means a a lot of vegtables, and protein, and avoiding overly processed foods. Stay away from empty calories like candy, soda.
That's pretty much it. Do some resistance training and cardio too. In about 7 months I've lost all that weight, while gaining tons of strength.
