Starting from beginner I believe they are not taught conventional opening plans. A scholastic chess student anywhere else will be taught to play 1.e4 and enter the italian game. Indians instead are taught the scholars checkmate setup or the 1.e4 2.Qh5 thing with Bc4 to follow, threatening checkmate and some other stuff. This is cheese. It's cheese because it's easily defended and white's pieces are now in stupid places. Indian play revolves around cheese and shenanigans, tricks and swindles. If they can't beat you on the board they will try to beat you on time. If they can't do that they will just stop playing entirely, not resigning, not disconnecting, and will allow their time to run out. They do this for spite, i guess. They never resign. They always make you checkmate them or wait until you're close then stop playing. If you play them on
chess.com they may spam the chat window with emotes to distract you. They may repeatedly offer you draws when they are losing. And of course they may just outright have an engine open on another device to cheat.
