You can read Chris Welch's book on Led Zeppelin and he mentions the Elvis story, but is silent on their veneration of him. He makes sure to mention some black musician and Hendrix as people Page listened to, but nothing of the songs Led Zeppelin copied from and that was right after the time those accusations made a big return.
How many black guitarists do you think could have inspired Page on 1950s British TV? I'm really curious about this.
