>>20747016Savannah’s log, entry #9
I’m well into my second day of travel. As planned, one of my drones has arrived and I’ve used it to tranquilise the individual who was tracking me. Her supplies were… pitiful. Two bottles of water and a knife. Useless.
Once she woke up, interrogating her for information proved to be a much more fruitful exercise. Through her I’ve learned lots about this universe. It seems that here, humanity made technological advances at a quicker rate than on my home universe. However in so doing they destroyed their environment, which led to devastating wars that wiped out much of their civilisation, resulting in their advances being lost.
As far as this woman knows, the only exception is The Realm, a monarchy whose territory exists under a giant dome. Apparently, that’s the place my drones picked up to the West. She says they stayed neutral during the military conflicts all those years ago, and as a result they’re the only place in the world to avoid being sent back to the stone ages by war.
As for the people outside The Realm, like the tracker, it seems most in this desert live underground in vaults. Apparently The Realm desperately want the locations of these vaults, though she didn’t know why. But having something The Realm want will prove useful to me, so I forced her to give me the coordinates for the entry point to her vault before killing her. No loose ends.
Information on a vault’s location will hopefully be enough to get me into The Realm. After all, it seems like the kind of place where I’d be able to source the materials needed to fix my Multiversal Traversal Machine.
