>>8384731It's a bit strange, yeah. I'm not a very social person in the first place, so even local events and such are usually news to me. I sometimes have to admire how aware these people are of what's going on locally. They do tell me it's nice to see young people take an interest in hobbies like these, and generally I feel very welcome. I just hope I can earn their respect as a craftsman one day. A lot of them are extremely good at their craft, no doubt owing to their old age and life-long dedication to their craft.
Braids aren't really difficult, but they are a bit weird for me personally. I'm very used to knitting straight with multiple colours, but I'm not very used to manipulating the actual shape of the article itself. Shaping the pattern instead of knitting it flatly with different colours isn't necessarily the harder of the two, but I'm used to using the colour of the work as a crutch to gauge where I'm at instead of keeping track mentally. Right now braiding requires a lot of focus from me because if I lose count of where I am, I might totally mess it all up. Practice makes perfect though!
