>>16131897My view on this is that the old testament gives a solid background for the teaching of Jesus and later for the new testament. All the tales about weird stuff are just a part of it, church removed the need for the circumcision as it is not needed for the salvation. Slavery was common throughout history. Christianity gave slaves a hope for a better future as well as a good advice to obey their masters and do a solid work so that they might be released eventually instead of chimping out and getting killed. And anyways if you want to live in a civilization you need to be a slave to someone whether that will be a king, president or your boss at work. There will always be someone above you and all the revolutions targeted against them ended up killing a lots of innocent people and the outcome was the same system but in different colors
