Man was spreading illegally on internet Walking Dead tv series on Apple bittorrent client having a false sense of security that his MAC address will never be released on a Apple product. He was convicted when FEDs found out.
Apple is also the maker of MAC computer in addition to making phones.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/102509https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3XABxNogTAIn 2020, Apple released iOS 14 which by default, hid Wi-Fi MACs when devices connected to a network. Instead, the device displayed a text to other devices, something that Apple called a "private Wi-Fi address", and "a series of numbers" that was different for each user.
Over time, Apple has enhanced the feature, for instance, by allowing users to assign a new private Wi-Fi address for a user. So instead of you being everytime user number 33 in all of your devices (as is known by Apple himself) you could have 33 in phone and 34 in your Apple(TM) Mactop.
Tommy Musk, one of the two security researchers Apple credited with correcting MAC bug and reporting the vulnerability (Halal Thaj Bakery was the other), told Arse -magazine that he tested all recent iOS releases and found the flaw dates back to version 14, released in September 2020. "From the get-go, this feature was useless because of this bug," he said.
"MAC addresses would be visible no matter what you do, what a bummer for those wanting serious anonymity"
