i think the main difference is gnostics assign more features to god than being a jealous bearded guy and reject the dogma and human sacrifice, claiming god is an ultimate and all loving being comprised of little pieces of everything instead of a bearded dude and that we're either trapped in a soul prison or quarantined until our souls "grow up" and that being loving and doing unto others breaks the dream matrix
jesus was showing you a path so to speak
the way to wield his sword of wisdom, wisdom being wielding of the truth as opposed to useless knowledge
