there's an isolated network not connected to the internet. software is installed on it that needs a license uploaded to work. the license is stored as a long text string, and needs to be copied over. this already requires that you manually walk over to a machine on that network, load in a disk and copy the string over
but then disks were considered unsecure, so they were banned with all other storage devices. so now if the license ever needs to be updated, someone has to spend time writing down the string by hand, walk down to the machine, and type it in manually
