Look, I'm not arguing proportionality or statistics here.
The Church handled it horribly. It has done irreparable damage to the Church's reputation, especially among the younger demographic of Western Catholics. These are just simple facts that a lot of Catholics want to cover their ears about.
Moreover, There have been countless stories of sodomy/homosexual deviance both in seminaries and parishes. There have been ex-seminarians that have come out and talked about the weirdness inside seminaries.
Vatican II + insistence on priestly celibacy + allowing fucking WEIRDOS into the seminaries have immensely damaged the reputation of the Church.
I once dreamed that Catholicism would flourish across every corner of the globe - that is not happening anymore. Even Latinos are sick of it and becoming protestants/evangelicals.
I am very close to becoming a practicing Muslim after studying it in depth over the last 7-8 years (as well as living in the Middle East for a period of time)
