4chan became desolate, unproductive, and unfun because mods started cracking down on every new forced meme until nothing else remained, nothing new is *allowed* to take off there, everything they dont like is spam. In its current state, only mod approved memes are allowed to succeed, which is why 4chan is just a shell of its former self, full of the same, unfunny, rigid humor its had for years at this point, and why /qa/, the virtually unmoderated final bastion of humor on 4chan, produced more in its short 2019-2021 then the rest of 4chan has since 2013~.
