>>20114207Ukraine versus Russia is indeed a toxic waste barrel of political intrigue. It's a "brother war" among brother wars.
Ukraine and Russia have similar language, religion, culture, and blood. It's in fact awful to see them fighting.
But from what I'm seeing as I delve into the topic and speak with Ukrainians working in essential industries, I have to admire their effort. For all its evils, war does bring a nation together; in particular an existential war does this. I have no doubt the Finns would behave the same way if you guys were invaded, and it's smart to have such a defense orientation. I am no hater of Russia, not by any means, but they must be a rather unnerving neighbor to have.
And of course mobilization for an existential war brings out an inner fascism in any nation with a survival instinct. Fascism is basically the military's modus operandi applied to society as a whole: military efficiency, discipline, values, camaraderie, togetherness among compatriots and dislike of the enemy.
Fascism is just the war footing of a healthy nation, perhaps. The mistake in fascism is to think that level of militarism can be sustained indefinitely even in peacetime.
