>>20422476I used to collect Polish coins but I don't do it anymore and I liquidated most of my stuff. Now, I am only interested in silver for stacking purposes. I prefer not to buy anything more expensive than generics. So my stack is just generics and European junk.
>If it's true that they were actually used in commerce in the late 1980s it's a remarkably late/young outlier for silver being used officially as money. Polish currency was non-precious as soon as ww2 ended. These "circulating commemorative" coins were special case. It was the ministry of finance brilliant plan to slow down the inflation. Give people half of their salary in shinny silver pope coin, so people hoard it. Thanks to that, the money supply was effectively decreased. (which is normally hard to achieve in hyperinflation times when people try to spend money asap)
Only some of these coins are viable for stacking. Pope coins and Piłsudski coin always have premium, even in awful condition. But that's simply because these people are idolized by many.
These 3 coins from pic are only 20th century polish junk silver worth stacking. Most boomer stacks consist 99% of the first coin (30th anniversary of communism in poland) because it was made in crazy amount and has no collector value.
