>>21633140wow... that was something else. adam driver was great and there were like 20 minutes that i thought was really good. some thoughtful themes and metaphors.
it was like shakespeare's julius caesar and ayn rand's fountainhead (two masterpieces i have not read) mixed with the 1984 film "the cotton club" (directed by francis ford coppola and featuring laurence fishbourne). if you've seen "the cotton club," you'd understand exactly what i mean. if you haven't, let's just say it suffers from precisely the same problems that metropolis suffers from.
wierdly enough the last movie i watched was synechdoche, new york, and i think the two of those movies share a lot in common.
you could cherrypick parts from that movie to write a review of how awful and ham-handed it was, actually you wouldn't need to cherry-pick because most of it was awful, aubrey plaza's "acting" made me experience nausea and there were a lot of bad performances, but i don't want to say too many bad things because i admire the ambition and scope of the film. i feel coppola aimed very highly but came up pathetically short, like a shot-putter with incredible form and a feeble delivery.
thanks for posting the movie :)
