My itinerary was: Tokyo, Sapporo, Shizukuishi, Utsunomiya (but NOT Nikko), Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Imabari, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Sendai (for the Michinoku Yosakoi festival), back to Osaka, then Toyama, Akita and Aomori before finally returning to Tokyo.
I'm definitely not thinking about moving there to get a woman. I am definitely taking the language seriously, though I can tell it would take many years before I could understand anything more than the most basic conversation. Reading isn't so bad since the kanji are there to show you which word is being used, but with spoken Japanese there's just so many words that sound alike. My favorite example is the name of the country is the same as saying "two [long object counter]".
